La Chambre - Van Gogh

First of all, the most important part, the title: La Chambre. This picture it's of Vicent van Gogh. He was a Dutch post-Impressionist. He born on 30th March 1853 on Zundert  (Netherlands) and he died on 29 July 1890 on Auvers-sur-Oise (France). 

The picture: there is bed near the door. Next to the window, which is near a chair, there are two pictures. Next to this  two pictures there is a table that has some jugs and glasses. On the left of the image there is a wardrobe and near it there is another chair.

On this picture there is a lot of light. There isn't any dark place.

The bed is enormous and too long, is bigger than the table, for example. 

On "La Chambre", Vicent van Gogh use oil on canvas. This picture were done in 1888 and it's at Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam). 

But there are three versions of this picture: One it's at Van Gog's Museum (Amsterdam), the second it's on the Art Institute of Chicago and the third is on the Musée d'Orsay (Paris).

I made this poster sticking the best photos of Gijón. I found all images on the Net.

 I did it with Macromedia Freehand MX.

It represents a famous part of Gijón, the track of Las Mestas, wich is near the Piles river.

I also made the form of the letters of the tittle and manipulated the rest of the text.

The Swan

Swans are large aquatic birds of the family Anatidae. They have webbed feet, a long slender neck, and usually white plumage. They have many roles in culture, here are some of them:





-Swans are often a symbol of love or fidelity because of their long lasting. 





-The swan has been depicted on an Irish commemorative coin in celebration of its EU presidency. 





-The Black Swan is of spiritual significance in the traditional histories of many Australian Aboriginal peoples across southern Australia. The Black Swan is the faunal emblem of the Australian state of Western Australia and swans are featured on the coat of arms of Canberra, the Australian capital. They also feature strongly in mythology. Maybe those are the reasons of  The Sydney Swans, an Australian football team.

-They are also waterfowl, closely connected with water, even nesting near the water. So that's why some logos related to water have included the swan in them:

-The ballet Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky is considered among both the most important works of this composer and among the often-performed classics of ballet. It is partially based on an old German legend, which tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. Some major elements as girls turned to swans and living in a lake or a hero falling in love with one of them, are also shared by the Irish mythology story of Caer Ibormeit. We think that's why this company theatre chose the swan as its logo. 

-Swan meaning is also linked to Celtic deities with solar associations, like Belanus and Lugh. As solar the swan represents the rising glory of a new day as well as the farewell of an old day with the setting sun.

THE OWL

The owl is a type of bird. It lives all around the world, so it has different meanings in each culture.

This animal lives and hunts in the night, so africans and americans thin it's a symbol of dead and bad luck. Chinese and Japanese cultures think that if you see one during the day, you'll have bad luck, but if you see them in the night it gives you good luck and a very long live.

In the european culture, it's a symbol of intelligence, so many book's companies have this animal in their logos.

In greek or roman cultures, this animal usually goes with Atenea, so they think it's a good symbol.

In North America, the owl, like all the animals, is usually the image of football teams.

In other countries this animal is the logo of many companies, like security comapnies for houses:

Cockerel

A cockerel is a young rooster, a male chicken which has not been castrated. 

The term comes from the Old English cockerel, which is a diminutive form of Cook, or “rooster.” At one time, adult male chickens were referred to as cocks, but when this term acquired a new definition in slang, the word “rooster” came into being. 

Cockerels has several traits which distinguish them from hens, often at a very early age. When chicks are first born, it is usually difficult to distinguish between males and females, but within weeks, cockerels have markedly pronounced combs on their heads, and they may appear bulkier, with longer and more decorative tail feathers.

A cockerel often looks particularly sleek and graceful, since the bird has not yet bulked out or begun fighting to defend territory with other birds, although cockerels can and will squabble if left alone with each other.

He fighting instinct of roosters is world famous, and in some regions, roosters are actually bred specifically for fighting as a blood sport.

       The white bull

 

The bull is the adult male of the cow. It has been a symbol for many cultures all alng the history of humans.

 

The first time they appeared was thousands of years ago. Bulls are represented in most cave paintings made by first humans.

 

 

Bulls have a lot of symbolis meanings:

 

In Zodiac taurus is a symbol of strength and power also it means stubborn.

In Indian culture the bull is represented as the vehicle of the god Shiva.

Most mediterranean cultures have white bulls in his mitology. For example, acient greeks, thought that Zeus convertered on a white bull to love the nymph Europa.

Also , roman soldiers adored the bull as a representation of god mitra ( divinity imported from an ocupated country) and they sacrificed a white bull every time before entering in combat.

Bulls are used for many logos.

A lot of american teams use bulls to represented his power and strenght. Also many brands use bulls on his logos, is the case for example, of Red bull or Lamborgini.
