Portrait of Pablo Picasso by Juan Martínez

This is a portrait of Pablo Picasso in his maturity, made by himself, it was painted using oil on canvass in the year 1986.

Picasso founded cubism (with other artists) and we can see it in his pictures. In this portrait, almost all the face has been done with straight lines
In the picture we can see he had a huge eyes and nose, he had dark hair, eyes and thin and dark eyebrows. He had a tiny and thin lips. We can see he was an elegant man looking to his coat.

A girl with a pearl earring from Vermeer - Marta de Sevilla

Title: A girl with a pearl earring
Author: Johannes Vermeer

Year: 1665-1667
Movement: Baroque and Dutch Golden Age
Technique: Oil on canvas

The most important parts of this portrait are the colours and the shadows. Vermeer’s use of light highlighted the earring and the face.
There are many theories about the identity of the woman, these are some of them:
-She could be Vermeer’s oldest daughter.
-Vermeer’s servant, Griet.
-Or the daughter of Vermeer’s main commissioner.

She’s a gorgeous woman, with big, brown eyes and a small nose. She has tiny eyelashes. She has a blue and yellow turban on her head, a popular complement in this age, from Orient.

SELFPORTRAIT OF CARAVAGGIO BY CARMELA PALACIOS

TITLE: Selfportrait

AUTHOR: Caravaggio

MOVEMENT: Tenebrismo

TECHNIQUE: Oil and canvas

Caravaggio is a painter of the Barroque.

El Caballero Anciano from El Greco - Mateo Cifuentes 3ºC [Reposted]

-I chose this portrait from El Greco because I like the way he draws everything stretched. It's called "Caballero Anciano"

     -Title: El Caballero Anciano.
     -Author: El Greco.
     -Period: Spanish Renassaince.
     -Year: Arround the 1590.
     -Technique used: Oil on canvas.

It represents an anonimous knight. Provably from Toledo, as it was a very important city, also where he lived.

This portrait follows El Greco's characteristic style: Painting all the figures taller and thiner than in reality.

For this portrait, the technique used was oil on canvas. He got to paint perfectly all this old man's characteristics through thick and thin brushstrokes and using very dark colours to possibly express the sadness in his last years of life. His old age is also expressed with small balds and white hair on his head. His thinness also express that he is not a very rich man.

REMBRANDT´S SELF-PORTRAIT BY MAITE SUSO

HERE IS THE REMBRANDT´S SELF-PORTRAIT I´M WORKING ON:

1st) It´s the original image (that I´ve looked for in google images) about Rembrandt´s self-portrait.
2nd) It´s the engraving I´ve done in a linocut.
3rd) It´s the final result that I´ve obtained when I printed the engraving with ink.

In this painting we´re looking at an old man.
All starts when Rembrandt thought he was
dealing with a gorgeous, smart and handsome
guy, himself . But when he started getting old
his perfect look changed so he decided to also
paint the ugliness, realism.
We now can analyze it in this picture with the
following features:
-The original paiting shows the darkness and
only focus his faces with a light streak.
-The elderly man has several wrinkles because
of his age.
-Due to his depression, his eyes, eyebrows
 and eyelids express sadness.
-His hair is yellowish and it´s worn-out.
-He also has huge ears but a thin, tiny and
 clearly defined mouth.
-His cheecks are large as his chin, but he has no beard

• The most obvious aspect of Rembrandt’s late style is that the brushwork is, in general,
broader. Individual brushstrokes sometimes remain visible, although the differentiation in the
brushwork is extraordinary. Rembrandt is also known as a painter of light and shade, and of
course as an artist whos technique, REALISM, would lead some critics to claim that he used
to prefer ugliness to beauty.

I´ve looked for the information on the internet in different web pages.

Reading by Manet

Post-impressionism:

Édouard Manet-crop.jpg
Edoard Manet was a French painter who borned in Paris on the 23th of January of 1832 and died on the 30th of April of 1883.He was one of the first 19th-century artists to paint modern life, and a pivotal figure in the transition from Realism to impressionism.
His early masterworks, The Luncheon on the Grass(Le déjeuner sur Iherbe in french) and Olympia, caused great controversy and served as rallying points for the young painters who would creat Impressionism. Today, these are considered watershed paintings that mark the genesis of modern art.
