Viana do Castelo Municipal Library



My rough layout




1) Name : Viana do Castelo Municipal Library.
2) Author: Alvaro Siza.
3) Construction: 2007.
4) Architectural style: Poetic modernism.
5) Detailed description: It is a two storey square shaped building, formed by an elevated volume , including a void, prolonged eastward on the first floor by a L shaped volume.The library headquarters, the library events area and the bar are on the first floor and the reading rooms are on the second floor.
6)  Localization: Viana do Castelo (Portugal).
7)  "Form follows function" is a principle associated with modern architecture and industrial design  in the 20th century. The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose.
