KIO TOWERS:
The Gate of Europe towers, also known as KIO towers, are twin office buildings near the Plaza de Castilla in Madrid, Spain. They are the second tallest twin towers in Spain after “Las Torres de Santa Cruz”. In the towers there are lots of offices. The building is made up of two towers prism-shaped that are inclined and symmetrical. They are made of crystal, metal and granite. Together they form a kind of futuristic door. It was built between 1990 and 1995 and it was designed by Philip Johnson y John Burgee.
Philip Cortelyou Johnson was an American architect. He is best known for his works of Modern architecture, including the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, and his works of postmodern architecture, particularly 550 Madison Avenue which was designed for AT&T, and 190 South La Salle Street in Chicago. In 1978, he was awarded an American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and in 1979 the first Pritzker Architecture Prize.
John Burgee (born August 28, 1933) is an American architect noted for his contributions to postmodern architecture. He was a partner of Philip Johnson from 1967 to 1991, creating together the partnership firm Johnson/Burgee Architects
In my opinion this building is very modern and huge, because it is 115 meters tall. Also I think it was difficult to build because it seems the towers are going to fall down.
