This is one picture of Monet. In this picture you can see a woman and a baby. The woman wearing long, blue and white dress, she is doing something with her hand, I think that she is weaving. She has brown hair and a big bun. She is young and is very pretty. The baby is wearing also blue dress and black shoes, she has short and orange hair. The baby has in her hands one paper. Behind the woman and the baby there is flowers os many colours (red, orange, pink, green, white, yellow and purple). I think that in this picture is spring. Monet is a painter of the impressionism and he never draw the lines, he draw the picture directly, this technique is very complicate and I think that Monet is a very good painter. I choose this picture because I think that is very beautiful and the drawing and I like Monet. Gaëlle.A.O. and Jimena.B.E (1ºB-C, E.S.O)
Georges Braque (1882 –1963) was a major 20th century French painter and sculptor who, along with Pablo Picasso, developed the art style known as Cubism. Braque's paintings of 1908–1913 reflected his new interest in geometry and simultaneous perspective. He conducted an intense study of the effects of light and perspective.
Beginning in 1909, Braque began to work closely with Pablo Picasso. Braque was interested mainly in developing Cézanne's ideas of multiple perspectives. Both artists produced paintings of monochromatic colour and complex patterns of faceted form, now termed Analytic Cubism. In 1912, they began to experiment with collage and papier collé. After the World War I, Braque working alone, he began to moderate the harsh abstraction of cubism. He developed a more personal style characterized by brilliant colour, textured surfaces, and the reappearance of the human figure.
Woman with a guitar
Woman with a Guitar was painted in 1913 by Georges Braque. It is an excellent example of Braque cubism paintings. It has the mainly cubism feature: multiple perspectives. It’s a synthetic cubism, so we can observe that while the painting is abstracted the basic subject can still be seen easily the top in the feminine mouth, eye… as well as the brown trapezoid shape containing the strings of a guitar. At the bottom of the painting we observe a fragment of text. Braque used papier collé, a painting technique and a type of collage that Braque created. It is very common on synthetic cubism. Meanwhile Cubism used to use only a few colours, the Synthetic Cubism offered a richer palette with more colours. Although “Woman with a guitar” is a synthetic Cubism painting, Braque only painted it in two colours: ochre and grey.
I like because...(Iratxe) I like this painting because in my opinion Cubism is a very innovator style. I think that the technique uses, oil on canvas and charcoal, is the suitable one, because oil is a flexible paint that allows to the author makes transparencies. I agree with multiple perspective due changes completely our traditional point of view. It is interesting that the panting is a little abstract, since I have fun discovering a lot of details and forms as much I look for it. While this image is fractured, it is not chaotic. Braque creates visual dynamics through balance.
I love the used of papier collé. Braque uses newspapers in a collage at the bottom of the image. It plays with texture and surface, and it breaks the flat surface making it more suggestive. The outlined edges of geometric shapes that form perspectives are doing the image more eye-catching. The limited palette (ochre and grey) on the painting gives to the image a neutral and sober tone which invites to reflexion. I enjoy the mood create, the woman eyes were close in relaxed expression and hold a guitar in her hands that suggests music. The picture expresses peaceful, because of it I like so much.
I don’t like because…(Lucía)
I don’t like this painting although I like cubism. I think that the multiple perspectives only make the painting more confusing and difficult to understand because you watch the same thing from different points of view.
You have said that this painting is a bit abstract, and that when you have stared at it you have discovered many details. I don’t like this because that means that if you want to understand the painting you must be concentrated, otherwise, you won’t understand it totally. For example, the first time I watched the painting I only could see clearly the guitar, but I couldn’t see the figure of the woman.
Moreover, “Woman with a guitar” is a synthetic Cubism painting (which means that it has a richer palette with more colours) but Braque only painted it in two colours: ochre and grey. I believe that if Braque would have used more colours, the painting would have been much more dynamic and easier to understand. In addition, the chosen colours (ochre and grey) suggest sadness. He painted the whole painting with the same colours and this makes the painting pessimistic and cold. We can see this in her eyes which are almost closed and in the way she has the guitar in her hands, like she doesn’t want to play the guitar.
This painting is from a post-impressionism painter called Georges Seurat. In this painting you can see some characteristics from the post-impressionism art. For example: the use of bright colors vs. dark colors, the use of four main colors and the technique of pointillism that consist of: the painter use tiny dots of primary-colors to generate secondary colors. And also outlined edges.
Now I’m going to describe the painting. You can see a women jumping on a horse, some viewers laughing, a clown that wears a red hat and a red t-shirt, a men with a whip and brown suit, two musicians with violins and a big curtain.
What is April Fools Day and what are its origins? It is commonly believed that in medieval France, New Year was celebrated on 1 April. Then in 1562, Pope Gregory introduced a new calendar for the Christian world, changing New Year to 1 January. With no modern communications, news travelled slowly and new ideas were often questioned. Many people did not hear of the change, others chose to ignore it, while some merely forgot. These people were called fools. Invitations to non-existent ‘New Year’ parties were sent and other practical jokes were played. This jesting evolved over time into a tradition of playing pranks on 1 April. The custom eventually spread to England and Scotland, and it was later transported across the Atlantic to the American colonies of the English and the French. April Fools Day has now developed into an international festival of fun, with different nationalities celebrating the day in a special ways.
In France and Italy, if someone plays a trick on you, you are the ‘fish of April’. By the month of April fish have only just hatched and are therefore easy to catch. Children stick paper fish to their friends’ backs and chocolate fish are found in the shops.
In Scotland, April Fools Day lasts for two days! The second day is called ‘Taily Day’ and tricks on this day involve the bottom (or the ‘tail’ in informal speech). Often a sign saying ‘kick me’ is stuck onto someone’s back without them knowing.
In Spain and Mexico, similar celebrations take place on 28 December. The day is the Feast of the Holy Innocents. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by Herod in his search for the baby Jesus. It eventually changed to a lighter commemoration of innocence involving pranks and trickery.
Today, Americans and the British play small tricks on friends and strangers alike on 1 April. A common trick is to point to a friend's shoe and say ‘Your shoelace is untied.’ When they look down, they are laughed at. Schoolchildren might tell a friend that school has been cancelled. A bag of flour might be balanced on the top of a door so that when the ‘victim’ opens the door, the flour empties over their head. Sometimes the media get involved. Once, a British short film was shown on April Fools Day about spaghetti farmers and how they harvest their crop from spaghetti trees!
Most April Fool jokes are in good fun and not meant to harm anyone. The best trick is the one where everyone laughs, especially the person upon whom the joke has been played.

UFO Lands Near London
Two British policemen were sent to investigate a glowing flying saucer on 31 March, the day before April Fool’s Day. When the policemen arrived at a field in Surrey, they saw a small figure wearing a silver space suit walking out of a spacecraft. Immediately the police ran off in the opposite direction. Reports revealed that the alien was in fact a midget, and the flying saucer was a hot air balloon that had been specially built to look like a UFO by Richard Branson, the 36-year-old chairman of Virgin Records.
Branson had planned to land the balloon in London’s Hyde Park on 1 April. However, a wind change had brought him down in a Surrey field. The police were bombarded with phone calls from terrified motorists as the balloon drifted over the motorway. One lady was so shocked by the incident that she didn’t realise that she was standing naked in front of her window as she was describing the UFO to a radio station
Today we commemorate the 126th birth anniversary of legendary German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe .
Regarded as one of the pioneers of modern architechture, Mies is said to have never taken any formal architectural training. He worked with several architects before he developed his own style. Like many of his post-World War I contemporaries, Mies wanted to establish a new architectural style that could represent modern times. He strived towards an architecture with a minimal framework of structural order balanced against the implied freedom of free-flowing open space, according to Wikipedia. He is known to call his buildings "skin and bones" architecture.
A few years after Adolf Hitler came to power in Germany and the government-financed school he was heading was closed down by Nazis, Mies emigrated to the United States. In the US, Mies became the head of department of architecture at the Armour Institute of Technology, Chicago, which later came to be known as the Illinois Institute of Technology.
In 1944, Mies became an American citizen, severing all his ties from his native Germany. Mies architecture, with its origins in the German Bauhaus and western European style, became the popular choice for several American buildings like cultural and educational institutions, public agencies and many large corporations.

Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards,
One blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
6 feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you
You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em goin' "Oh, oh, oh"
You don't have to feel like a wasted space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em goin' "Oh, oh, oh"
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through-ough-ough
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh"
You're gonna leave 'em goin' "Oh, oh, oh"
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Alhóndiga Bilbao is a multi-purpose venue located in the city of Bilbao. It was designed by French designer Philippe Starck in collaboration with Thibaut Mathieu and it was opened to the public in stages between 18 May and 24 October, 2010. The venue, labeled as a "Culture and Leisure Centre", consists of a cinema multiplex, a fitness centre, a swimming pool, a library, showrooms, an auditorium, shops, and a restaurant.
Originally a wine warehouse, it was designed by Basque architect Ricardo Bastida and inaugurated in 1909. However, in the 1970s, a new warehouse was planned and the Alhóndiga was abandoned. Several projects were suggested, ranging from public housing, a museum of modern art, or even demolishing the entire building, but all were scrapped. Finally, in 1994 it was decided to renovate it and it build a sports and culture centre. The Basque Government decided to declare the building "Public Property of Cultural Interest" in 1999.
Three mouth ago I went to "La Alhóndiga Bilbao" and I was fascinating with the 43 different columns that stretch the Alhóndiga. It was incredible, a lot of columns built in several stiles. It took photos of some of them.

An example of the golden ratio in architecture is the rosette of the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Palma de Mallorca in Spain, also known as the Eye of Gothic construction being Gothic, has been cited as the world's largest Gothic in reference and allusion to the dimensions of the glass surface. Measured between 12.8 and 13.8 meters in diameter and has nearly 100 square meters. It is composed of 1,236 crystals. It was built in 1370 and was subsequently stained glass windows were added in the sixteenth century. Other features of this huge rosette are the perfect Star of David made up of 24 triangles that its tracery drawn on it and its peculiar location being situated on the main sanctuary and not the feet as usual. Throughout history, the rose has had to be replaced on several occasions, the last time by the fall of a bomb in the palace of La Almudaina during the civil war.Deshacer cambios
Independent music, often shortened to indie music or "indie" is a term used to describe independence from major commercial record labels or their subsidiaries, and an autonomous aproach recording and publishing. Indie pop refers to music based indie conventions of pop music. Because the term indie rock sometimes covers the whole indie music in general, the indie pop can be considered a subgenre of indie rock. The indie pop is pop music that moves beyond the boundaries of conventional pop music.
I'll talk a little about those who are in my opinion the best indie bands, national and British bands that I like. In Spain, on the 80, during the famous "Movida Madrileña" is created the first independent groups, but in my opinion is now that the Spanish indie bands really stand out within the national indie pop, I have to name groups like Vetusta Morla , Love of Lesbian, The Sunday Drivers and Lori Meyers. I found these groups really originals and I had the opportunity of seeing Vetusta Morla on live and they don´t left me indifferent, they are really great.
The British indie artists are in my opinion very good too, but I feel a weakness for Spanish music. Although the name given in Britain to this genre is usually rock or alternative pop.in my opinion, include such famous groups as Coldplay, some less known as Travis or Keane or artists who are making known online as Lana del Rey, I find incredible groups and that people should start listening, because I really recommend and songs are very touching.
The number of gold, also known as golden section or golden ratio coexist with humanity because it appears in nature and since Greek times to the present day in art and design. The golden ratio appears in the proportions that keep buildings, sculptures, objects, parts of our body, ... An example of the golden rectangle in art is the elevation of the Greek Parthenon. A harmonious proportions of the body, which studied the Greeks and Romans in an earlier period, reflected in this drawing Leonardo da Vinci. It served to illustrate the book The Divine Proportion Luca Pacioli published in 1509. In this book are described which have to be the proportions of the art constructions. In particular, offers a perfect man in the relations between different parts of your body are golden proportions.
