FOREVER YOUNG-BOB DYLAN
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

BORN IN CHICAGO-TOM PETTY &THE HEARTBREAKERS

Tom Petty - Wildflowers (1994) Lyrics:

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, find you a lover
Go away somewhere all bright and new
I have seen no other
Who compares with you

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free

Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by

You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worry
You belong somewhere you feel free
You belong somewhere you feel free

RYTHM

Rhythm is a harmonic sequence of occupied space, free space or repeated forms in an image. Any kind of sequence describes a trajectory that organises a surface and gives the impression of dynamic impulses. These trajectories can be horizontal, vertical, sloping, concurrent in same point…
Uniform rhythm: this takes place when we repeat the same form in a constant and regular way.
Alternate rhythm: alternation is the repetition of a filled-space element followed by an empty one. The use of two or more elements with different positioning, shape, size, colour or texture accentuates the dynamism of the sequence.
Increasing and decreasing rhythm: we create this type of rhythm by successively changing size, thickness, height or colour.
Radial and concentric rhythm: when elements start as a central point and open outwards in a sequential way, rhythm is organised by imaginary radii. In the same way, concentric rhythm stars as the centre and the elements expand out towards the outside.
Modular rhythm: a module is a set of grouped forms that create a visual unit when put together. Just like rhythms using only one form, modular ones can create a uniform rhythm, an alternate rhythm with two or more modules, an increasing rhythm…
Symmetrical rhythm: this is another way of generating sequences either with just one form or with modular visual units.
Rhythmic surfaces: this rhythm can move in all directions, crossing and occupying the entire surface.
Free rhythm: to work with free rhythms easily, you should distribute the forms on an imaginary line that follows a sequential path. The only thing you should keep in mind is the repetition of the elements of the composition.

WESTHAFEN TOWER

Westhafen Tower is a skyscraper in the Gutleutviertel district of Frankfurt. The building, which has a height of 109 metres, was designed by the architects Schneider & Schumacher and was completed in 2004. The tower, whose name literally means "Western Port Tower", is one of the first buildings at the former Western Port.

From the outside, the building is shaped like a cylinder, but the storeys are square-shaped, creating 18 conservatories between the interior and exterior. Each of the 30 floors above ground has a rentable area of approximately 820 square metres. One of the architectural features is the rhomboid facade structure, with 3556 triangular panes of glass forming the outer skin.
The structure of the building's glass facade resembles the rhombic surface of a typical Frankfurtian cider glass. Therefore, the building is popularly called das Gerippte, literally meaning "the Rhombic".

A portion of the triangular segments of the glass can be automatically opened for ventilation purposes in the bottom corner. The floors are heated with under the windows recessed convectors as the cooling is done via a cooling ceiling

Rhythm

Rhythm  may be generally defined as a movement marked by the regulated succession of strong and weak elements, or of opposite or different conditions. This general meaning of regular recurrence or pattern in time may be applied to a wide variety of cyclical natural phenomena having a periodicity or frequency of anything from microseconds to millions of years.

I have choosen some pictures to show you the different kinds of rhythm.

In nature:

In art:

In architecture:

In design:

Rythm

Rhythm is a principle of art that's difficult to summarize in words. Assuming that you've picked up on a rhythm in music before, take what you heard with your ears and try to translate that to something you'd see with your eyes. Rhythm, in art, is a visual beat.
A pattern has rhythm, but not all rhythm is patterned. For example, the colors of a piece can convey rhythm, by making your eyes travel from one component to another. Lines can produce rhythm by implying movement. Forms, too, can cause rhythm by the ways in which they're placed one next to the other.
Really, it's easier to "see" rhythm in just about anything other than the visual arts.
This is my own example of rythmic composition:

In the first one I combine 4 colours ( blue, brown and two shades of pink).
In the second one I used pictures of magazines to make a collage.

Other examples of rythm:

SYMMETRY
Symmetry has been used as a way to organize elements in a space for thousands of years, and it can be used to unify the different parts of an image harmonically.
If an image is symmetric, when you follow it by the axis (or the different axes),  both parts will be exactly the same. Axes can be vertical, horizontal or oblique.
Symmetry is found in art and architecture, but also in nature and a lot of places of our daily life.

Types of symmetry:
-          Axial symmetry. There is only an axis and it is usually situated in the middle of the composition.
This is an example of axial symmetry in architecture:

-          Radial symmetry. There are some different axes which pass through a common point and they are placed like lines of a wheel.  The elements are at the same distance of the centre.
This is my own example of radial symmetry:

RHYTHM
In visual art, rhythm consists in a sequence of elements, in which some different elements (or only one element) are ordered repeating and mixing them ( their colour, form, lines, brightness,…) and including free spaces. The result is a harmonic trajectory that organises a surface and gives the impression of dynamism.
Rhythm can be: uniform, alternate, increasing and decreasing, radial, symmetrical, modular, rhythmic or free.

This is an example of rhythm, a composition painted by Victor Vasarely in which is easy to see the rhythm.

RYTHM

FIRT PICTURE:
I was inspired in a picture which maite had shown us in class. First I draw some strange forms all over the space with a small space between each other after that divide in 9 parts (those group of forms which are with the same color) After that I selected 4 group of colors( reds and yellows, greens, blues and purples, and grey and brown) and I painted them.

SECOND PICTURE:
First I selected 4 photos of a person. She was with different gestures of her face in each photo. I cut each photo in 8 parts. And I mixed them to create 6 compositions as you can see.

RADIAL SYMETRY

This is my example of radial symetry, also the colors I used are in symetry with each others

Searching in the net I found this website about symetry and rythm. It's an interactive web page, and there they explain you in an easy way what is symetry and rythm and they give you examples. But it's in spanish.

My own example of Rhythmic composition.

Viana do Castelo Municipal Library

My rough layout

1) Name : Viana do Castelo Municipal Library.
2) Author: Alvaro Siza.
3) Construction: 2007.
4) Architectural style: Poetic modernism.
5) Detailed description: It is a two storey square shaped building, formed by an elevated volume , including a void, prolonged eastward on the first floor by a L shaped volume. The library headquarters, the library events area and the bar are on the first floor and the reading rooms are on the second floor.
6)  Localization: Viana do Castelo (Portugal).
7)  "Form follows function" is a principle associated with modern architecture and industrial design  in the 20th century. The principle is that the shape of a building or object should be primarily based upon its intended function or purpose.

My own rhythm

This is my own project of rhythm . In the first one I combine two colours ( blue and pink) creating a heart-shape and in the second one I've used my own photos to make a collague , I have used colourfull, brighty and sunny photos because I think it makes the idea I want to transmit of hapiness and summer.

In the performance arts rhythm is the timing of events on a human scale; of musical sounds and silences, of the steps of a dance, or the meter of spoken language and poetry. Symmetry

-Symmetry generally conveys two primary meanings. The first is an imprecise sense of harmonious or aesthetically pleasing proportionality and balance such that it reflects beauty or perfection. The second meaning is a precise and well-defined concept of balance that can be demonstrated or proved according to the rules of a formal system: by geometry, through physics or otherwise. Here are some examples:

-In nature a good example of symmetry is the diamond.

-In art I have chosen two pictures.

-In architecture I have chosen two pictures again.

-And finally I have chosen tree logos in the category of desing.

Rhythm Design: Repetition + Scale + Contrast = Movement

In the performance arts rhythm is the timing of events on a human scale; of musical sounds and silences, of the steps of a dance, or the meter of spoken language and poetry. Rhythm may also refer to visual presentation, as "timed movement through space." and a common language of pattern unites rhythm with geometry. In recent years, rhythm and meter have become an important area of research among music scholars.

My own exaple of symetry

We can appreciate the radial symetry in this drawing made by me.

Francisco Bores

(b Madrid, 6 May 1898; d Paris, May 1972). Spanish painter. He began his training in Madrid in the studio of the painter Cecilio Plá (1860–1934) and as a copyist in the Museo del Prado; among the works he copied were paintings by Titian, Velázquez and Goya. In Madrid he became associated with intellectuals involved with the avant-garde and produced illustrations for journals such as España , Alfar , Revista de Occidente and Cruz y Raya . In 1925, after taking part in the important Exposición de artistas Ibéricos in Madrid, he settled in the Montparnasse district of Paris, where he became associated with Picasso, Gris and other Spanish artists. He also became friends with Derain and Matisse.
