POLYHEDRA BUILDINGS

1- HOTEL RYUGYONG






*Author of the building: Khaled Bichara was born in El Cairo,Egypt, the 27 of july in 1971.He is married with Marianne Bichara and he has two children and currently serves as President of Dada.it and Co Executive Director of Accelero Capital.In december of 2003 he was named as young ejecutive of the year, he has experience in telecomunication and information technology coupled with strong management and entrepreneurial expertise. He has extensive experience of operational management for early stage and developed assets.











*Name: Hotel Ryunyong,but is also known as Building 105, due to the number of floors it has.
*Function:It has several functions including accommodation, apartment, shopping center or rotating restaurant.



*Where is it: is in Pionyang that is in north korea.
*Materials:It is made with concrete, glass panels and enameled glass panels.
*Period: It was built between 1987 and 2013,
but in 1992 the construction was stopped due to the lack of funds for electricity and the shortage of food in the country, after the collapse of the Soviet bloc but 16 years later in 2008 construction was resumed.
*Polyhedra shape:it is based in a pyramid
-HEIGHT: 330m.
-NUMBER OF FLOORS:105.



*Interesting facts: -Ryugyong was planned to attract tourists during the 1988 Olympic Games.
- Each wing measures 100m long and 18m wide.
Inclined to 75 °, the wings converge to form a pinnacle.

-The elevators run on the outer edge of the building.
*Personal opinion:we think  that it is huge ,modern ,original , beautiful, symmetrical and we love the idea to have a revolving restaurant on the roof.

2-Palace of Peace and Reconciliation

*Author of the building:Norman Robert Foster,was born in Manchester the 1st of june in 1935.Is a British architect. He has been awarded the Pritzker Prize in 1999 and the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts in 2009.
Norman Foster is the President of the Norman Foster Foundation. The Norman Foster Foundation encourages interdisciplinary thinking and research to help new generations of architects, designers and planners anticipate the future. The Norman Foster Foundation, which opened on June 1, 2017, is based in Madrid and carries out projects on a global level.






*Name:The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation but it is also called the Pyramid of Peace and the Agreement.
*Function:The pyramid was built to host the World Congress of Religious and Traditional Leaders and in the lower levels has an auditorium.

*Where is it: it is located in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan.

*Materials: The lower one, with three levels of triangles, is plated in granite. The upper part of two triangular levels, is glazed. The design of the stained glass windows is by Brian Clarke.The structure of the pyramid is made of steel although reinforced concrete was used in the lower levels of the construction. The engineers had to design the building to withstand its expansion and contraction due to temperature variations of more than 80 ° C, from -40 to more than 40 ° C, which expand the construction to 30 cm.

*Period:was created on March 29, 2004,construction began on September 1 and the construction
was completed on December 17, 2006.
*Polyhedra shape: it is based in a pyramid, it has 77m high and The pyramid-shaped construction is 62 m high and is about 15 m high.

*Interesting facts: -It cost 8.74 million tenge (that are 38.922.754 euros).
-It has a garden area that covers the lower levels.
-some colored lights are lit at night outside the pyramid.

*Personal opinion:we love the colors of the rainbow so we like a lot the lights that are lit at night on the pyramid. We think it is very colorful, original, a little bland for the day without the lights, but modern and fun, and also It was built in no time for how big it is.

Louvre Pyramid

Author: Leoh Ming Pei, was born in april 1917 in China, he studied in Massachusets, teached in Harvard and his most important work is the Louvre pyramid. He won the Pritzker prize in 1983.
Style: Modern Art. 
Location: Paris, France.
Function: Decorative in a museum entry.
Materials: Laminated glass and aluminium.
Shape: Pyramid shaped.
My opinion: It´s huge and its a wonderfull way to say welcome to tourists in Louvre Museum
